Penrose is an original modern rock band hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah. The band formed in early 2015. Penrose's style could be described as Modern Indie Rock with tasty swaths of Alternative & Pop wedged into the joints. Vocalist Madison Penrose is no stranger to the microphone, having been an American Idol National Top 30 Finalist in 2010 and winning the Utah Idol competition in 2014. After forming in April 2015, the band found their feet quickly. “It was pretty obvious from the very first rehearsal with the guys that we had something that was really good, high energy and unique” says Madison. “Everything just came together really quickly. Within just a few months, we were out playing shows with all original material and all the audiences were really into what we were doing. It was pretty exciting!” Penrose were invited to join the 3 band “Blissmas Tour” in December 2015 with home grown favorites Royal Bliss and American Hitmen. Covering multiple Western U.S states, the tour received glowing reviews and quickly gained the young band a reputation as one to watch. Since that first tour, the band has been feverishly busy. Recent highlights include a show stealing performance at the Gallivan Center (UT) as part of the 2016 Make it Louder Music Festival, live performances on Fox 13 Television and travel to Texas in June of 2016 for recording of their second EP with producer Eric Holtz. Live audiences are treated to a high energy, dynamic show which has prompted comparisons to Paramore, ZZ Ward and Pink. Penrose have impressed television audiences with powerful live performances on Comcast Cable Networks, Fox 13, Xfinity TV, and Park City Television. Penrose were selected to perform as part of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT. Local Radio play of the bands first self-titled EP has been very well received and the band are continually impressing growing crowds at every show.

Anime Girlfriend is an all-female rock group from Salt Lake City, Utah made up of Hannah Shipley Williams (vocals/bass), Rosie Moore (guitar), and Ada Carter (vocals/guitar). The group blends influences of Rock, Midwest Emo, Shoegaze, Indie, and Pop into something entirely their own that they’ve lovingly dubbed “Mountain West Emo”.

Anime Girlfriend released their debut EP ‘AGF’ in fall of 2023, with moody, Twilight-esque lead singles ‘plath daddy’ and ‘thoreau’. AGF was met with much local enthusiasm, even going as far as to reach the ears of Weezer’s Brian Bell, who included the tracks ‘email’ and ‘red pill/blue pill’ on his list of favorite songs of 2023 in The Brooklyn Vegan. “There is something fresh sounding about this band that hits deeper than just juicy guitar tones,” he wrote.

After the release of AGF, the band said goodbye to drummer Kt Bacon as she moved away to Chicago for medical school, but not before collaborating on one more track. The future of the group is captured in their new single ‘Pretty Boy,’ a sunshine-infused pop rock track that sees them taking their signature DIY sound into something brighter and more sophisticated without losing the edge and honesty of their lyricism.

Salt Lake City’s Mowth is a band to be reckoned with. The female-fronted alt punk outfit from Salt Lake City blends catchy pop hooks with empowered riot grrrl tenacity. Founded in 2019 by Singer Rachel Clark and Guitarist/Producer Jordan Clark, the band was soon joined by Callie Crofts on bass and Zac Bryant on drums. This rag-tag group of real-life besties brings infectious energy and undeniable enthusiasm to the stage that packs a powerful and memorable punch.
